Barack Obama is the current President of the United States, which means he is also the Chief Executive.

The President is the head of the Executive branch. The Constitution states that as President he/she must "take care that laws be faithfully executed." This means the role of the executive branch is to carry out the laws and that it's the Chief Executive's, President's, job to figure out the best way to do so. The President is the leader of the Executive branch and has power within the branch. The President can nominate executive and judicial officers with the consent of Senate, and the President can grant pardons and reprieves. (Watch the vid to learn more about the Chief Executive.)

The Cheif Executive can nominate judical and executive officers, with the consent of Senate of course.

President, as leader of the executive branch, can give executive orders. These orders are similar to decrees in other countries. The orders usually help direct the operation of executive officers. Congress has the right to overturn an executive order by refusing funding to pay for the order or by passing legislation in conflict with it. However, the President has the power to veto such a decision, in return congress can override a veto with two-thirds majority. The process of stopping an executive order is so confusing that the orders rarely get overruled. There has been only two account in history of an executive order being stopped by Congress.
